MIDA 20kW wallbox DC fast charger CCS2 single gun

Ultra-Compact 20kW Wallbox DC Fast Charger

The MIDA 20kW Wallbox DC Fast Charger packs a complete Level 3 charging system into a wall-mounted enclosure that is roughly the size of a small suitcase. Delivering up to 20kW of DC output through a single CCS2 connector, it adds around 100km of range in under an hour, turning a standard parking bay into a fast charging point without civil works or a dedicated charging plaza.

  • 20kW rated DC output, 200-1000V wide voltage window
  • Single CCS2 gun with 5m cable and holster
  • Wall-mounted, only 0.35m installation depth

As a dedicated DC charger station, it is purpose-built for sites where AC charging is too slow and a full pedestal charger is impractical.

Single CCS2 Gun with Reliable DC Fast Charging

The CCS2 (Combo 2) connector is the standard for DC fast charging across Europe, the UK and most global markets, so the 20kW wallbox works with virtually every modern EV without adapters. The gun uses silver-plated contacts rated for 1000V DC and a mechanical latch rated for more than 10,000 mating cycles, with temperature sensing at the pin level to derate automatically if a connector heats up.

Cable management is handled by a side-mounted hook and a strain-relieved entry, keeping the 5m cable off the ground and out of the way of passing vehicles. Spare or replacement assemblies are available through our EV charger connector range.

MIDA 20kW wallbox DC charger power module architecture

High-Efficiency Power Architecture, IP54 Outdoor Ready

Inside, the charger uses a fan-cooled high-frequency DC power stage with an efficiency of up to 95%, keeping heat generation low and cabinet size small. The IP54 rated steel housing with anti-corrosion coating is suitable for indoor car parks, workplace garages and covered outdoor bays, operating from -30C to +50C with automatic thermal derating above 45C.

  • Up to 95% conversion efficiency, PF > 0.99
  • Integrated Type A + 6mA DC leakage protection
  • Surge protection and short-circuit, over-voltage, over-temperature safeguards

Where projects scale up to 30kW, 60kW or 120kW, the same platform architecture is reused; see the full EV power module line for hot-swappable building blocks.

OCPP 1.6J Smart Networking and RFID Authentication

The MIDA 20kW Wallbox is a networked charger, not a stand-alone box. Native OCPP 1.6J support lets it connect over Ethernet, Wi-Fi or optional 4G to any compatible back office, enabling remote start and stop, live power monitoring, tariff and pricing rules, firmware updates and detailed session reports for billing.

RFID authentication (Mifare Classic / DESFire) lets fleets issue cards to drivers and control exactly who charges and when, while the local whitelist keeps the station usable if connectivity drops. The controller is built on our proven EVSE protocol controller platform, tested against major CPO networks.

Built for Commercial, Workplace and Fleet Applications

With a small footprint and a single cable, the 20kW wallbox is the most cost-effective way to electrify a company car park. Mount it on a wall or on an optional pedestal, feed it from a 3-phase 400V supply, and each unit serves one bay with genuine fast charging – ideal for employees who stay 2-4 hours, delivery vans on rotation, and hotel or retail guests.

  • Workplace and staff car parks
  • Logistics and light commercial van fleets
  • Hotels, retail, showrooms and dealerships
  • Residential complexes and municipal parking

For drivers who need charging on the move instead, our portable EV charger range complements fixed installations.

One Platform from 20kW to 240kW – and Solar DC-DC Ready

The 20kW wallbox is the entry point of the MIDA DC fast charging family, which scales through 30kW, 40kW, 60kW, 90kW, 120kW, 180kW and 240kW configurations with single or dual guns, floor-mounted cabinets and integrated advertising displays. A single supplier and a single OCPP back office can therefore cover a whole portfolio, from a small office car park to a highway hub.

For solar sites, the same DC bus accepts a DC-DC photovoltaic input module, allowing PV arrays to feed the charger directly without an extra AC inversion stage. That removes one conversion loss, improves overall site efficiency and makes self-consumption of solar power far more attractive. A larger example of the platform is the 60kW 90kW floor-mounted DC fast charger.

FAQ: Full Power Range and DC-DC Solar Input

Q: What power ratings are available in this DC charger family?

A: The platform covers 20kW, 30kW, 40kW, 60kW, 90kW, 120kW, 180kW and 240kW. The 20kW wallbox is the compact single-gun unit described on this page; higher ratings use larger cabinets, dual guns and optional advertising displays, all managed by the same OCPP 1.6J back office.

Q: Can I start with 20kW and upgrade later?

A: Yes. Sites often begin with a 20kW wallbox per bay and add more units as demand grows, or move to a 60kW-120kW cabinet for high-traffic bays. Because the same OCPP platform and connector standard are used throughout, existing RFID cards and management software keep working.

Q: What is the DC-DC photovoltaic input module?

A: It is an optional module that connects a PV array directly to the charger DC bus, so solar power is converted once instead of being inverted to AC and rectified back to DC. This reduces conversion losses, increases solar self-consumption and lowers the effective cost per kWh delivered to the vehicle.

Q: Does the 20kW wallbox support solar or battery integration?

A: The 20kW wallbox is a grid-connected AC-input unit. DC-DC PV input and battery coupling are available on the larger cabinet models, typically from 60kW upward. Share your site layout and solar capacity and our engineers will propose the right combination.

Q: What is the typical installation requirement?

A: A 3-phase 400V supply with a dedicated breaker, a flat wall or pedestal position with 0.35m depth clearance, and network access (Ethernet, Wi-Fi or 4G). The unit is delivered pre-configured and can be commissioned remotely over OCPP in most cases.

Q: Is it compatible with my existing charging network?

A: Because it speaks standard OCPP 1.6J, it can be onboarded to most CPO platforms without custom development. We test interoperability against major European and global back offices and can supply the charge point model profile on request.
